Crónica dos XX

Parte 1:

Os “The xx” são uma das estreias mais consistentes do ano de 2009. Queria começar assim este texto porque posso-me esquecer do essencial: levantar este album “xx” como o mais importante do ano. Está feito.

O grupo não é mais do que quatro imberbes estudantes londrinos que assentam a sua criatividade no mais puro minimalismo conceptual. A música é despretensiosa baseada em guitarras envolventes apoiada por uma caixa de ritmos em sequências básicas. Há uma secreta supervalorização da aprendizagem instrumental, se assim lhe posso chamar, no sentido de catapultar o essencial: a composição, e obviamente desprover de objecto todo e qualquer virtuosismo técnico.

As vozes principais saltam entre a Romy e o Oliver numa profunda comunhão de sentimento que por vezes chega a ser arrepiante (ouçam a infinity p.ex.) e os rituais ancestrais de acasalamento como sejam a shelter ou a islands.

As vozes o movimento o conceito tudo é slowcore ou sadcore sempre carregados e movimentos pungentes em redenção.

As influências, segundo dizem vão de Young Marbel Giants, Japan ou Glass Candy, sendo que todos dizem ser new wave rithym and blues... mas o meu conceito de rotulagem é mais simples: isto é pop indie pop. E para mim basta ouvirmos a Cristalised para sentirmos algo do tipo Interpol ou Radiohead pululante dentro do peito. Mas isso sou eu...

Trata-se sem dúvida de uma purga sentimental para este final de ano. Não ouçam The xx: comprem e consumam em doses massivas, por favor. Eles merecem quanto mais não sejam por nos fazerem sentir que podemos criar momentos especiais até das coisas mais simples.
Se a indie pop precisava de uma pedrada para evoluir os The xx utilizaram uma simples pena para nos tocarem onde mais sentimos.
